Who Is Sufficient Unto These Things?

by Bro. Hyacinth Onuoha - August 2008

Dear reader,
This topic is quite important in that it addresses the need for us as Christians to realize that we need God at all times. We must always bear in mind that we cannot accomplish much without Him. We therefore must hold on to Him at all times.

DEFINITIONS: Three key words are important in this topic. They are

  • WHO
  • SUFFICIENT
  • THING(S)
WHO:
  • Is used in questions to ask about the name, identity or function of one or more people.
  • It is also used to show which person or people you mean.
  • It is also used to give more information about somebody.
SUFFICIENT:
  • Enough for a particular purpose.
  • As much as you need.
  • An amount of something that is enough for a particular purpose.
THING(S) :
  • A matter of concern
  • Deed, act or accomplishment
  • State of affairs in general or within specified or implied sphere
  • Event
  • Circumstances
  • Situation
  • An inanimate object distinguish from a living being.
  • Possession
  • A material or substance of a specified kind.
THE OBJECT OF THIS TOPIC:

One thing is noteworthy. The topic is a question. It is a question that calls our attention to our need for the following:

DIVINE ASSISTANCE:

  • Everyone of us needs divine assistance
  • If Apostle Paul needed it then we all need it. 2 Cor 3:5
  • Our sufficiency is of God and nothing more.
  • Without His help, enablement and power we are nothing.
DIVINE ASSOCIATION:
  • We need, as human beings, who are limited in sight, wisdom and strength, God’s direction in life, ministry, career, and marriage,.
  • John 15:5 - says without Him we can do nothing – Absolutely nothing.
  • Psalm 127:1-2 - says the builders and watchman will labor in vain unless they have divine association and assistance.
  • Luke 5:1-11 – Peter toiled all night and caught nothing but when Jesus entered his boat his testimony changed.
  • John 21:1-13 – They toiled all night and caught nothing but Jesus came and changed their story.
  • You must always go with Jesus.
DIVINE ASSURANCE:
  • Jeremiah 1:19
  • When God assures you of victory it will be so.
  • If Jesus is in your boat you are assured it will not sink or capsize. Mark 4:35-41.
DIVINE DEPENDENCE:
  • We must always depend on Him.
  • He is the VINE and we are the branches. John 15:1-5
  • Can the vine do without the branch?
  • Can the branch survive or live outside of the vine. Impossible Do you wholly depend on GOD?
