Eternity
Dear friend,
As I listened to the radio on my way to work one morning I heard that 55 people had been killed by tornadoes that roared through the mid-south overnight. As I listened further to the news one thing that struck my mind was that death is inevitable. And when we die, where do we go?
In one sense, we are all subject to the statistics of time and chance. According to the CIA Factbook, in 2006 there were an estimated 8.26 deaths/1,000 people every day. Multiply this by the population of 298,000,000, divide by 365, and you get about 6,744 deaths per day in the United State.
Many of us are so involved in the affairs of this world such a lying, anger, fornication, adultery, malice, hatred, stealing, homosexuality and murder to name a few that we hardly think about eternity. Some of us even argue that there is no such thing as eternity; some of us do not believe there is a God. What if you are wrong? What if there is God; what if there is eternity. Have you ever considered where eternity is and where you will spend it?
The Bible tells us that when we die, we will experience the judgment of God (Hebrews 9:27). Whether we like it or not, we are only appointed to die once and after that face the judgment of God. As you read this article, what is your relationship with God at this very moment? Have you accepted Christ as your personal Lord and Savior? Are all your ways righteous before him? If the answer is No, then the punishment of God is upon you. For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord (Romans 6:23).
Every one of us is created by God, so all souls are His. The Bible tells us that the soul that sins shall die (Ezekiel 18:4). If you begin to live a life that is pleasing to God today not only will you have an everlasting life, you will begin to experience God's physical blessings here on earth. You will begin to see improvement in your children lives, and a better marriage life. Your job and finances will turn for the better. Everything you set your hand on will turn to blessing. "And ye shall serve the LORD your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee" (Exodus 23:25, 26).
My beloved friends, no matter how bad your situation in life is today, even if you are at the verge of losing your marriage or job, or your life is so miserable and your children disobedient and rebellious, there is hope in Jesus Christ! He is knocking at the door of your heart and saying, "Come to me and I will give you rest". Just admit to God this very moment that you are a sinner, repent of your sin, go to God in prayer and accept Jesus Christ into your heart. Begin to attend a Bible believing church.
